A RIDE
We love our volunteer guides! If you an RMBCH member and have a local trail that you love to show some people, that's all you need to start .
Step 1 - If you have not led a ride with us before, contact us and let us know you have in mind.
Step 2 - If you have led a ride before, just fill out the new event form so we can get the word out for your ride!
If you would like to lead a work ride: Work ride leaders must attend a ride with a work-leader first. This ensures processes, public land regulations, safety requirements, gear, and RMBCH rules are covered. More details below.
-------------
If you'd like to know more, here's how it goes
Ride Leader Tasks
Before the ride: Have waivers signed & conduct safety briefing
After the ride: Enter volunteer hours for you and your riders / Follow up with your riders / Report any trail incidents to RMBCH
Ride Leader Expectations
You're the trail ambassador for equines. Go above and beyond to be courteous to all trail users. ie do not park trailers across car parking spaces. Park trailers together when possible.
Follow the ride rules
Keep the trailhead and parking lots clean of manure and hay. Pack it out.
Make sure your riders are responsible and safe to other trail users even if other trail users are rude. You are the point person for handling conflicts with other trail users on your ride.
Do not ride/cause damage on muddy trails. Pay attention and cancel a ride if there are muddy trails.
Do not ride on any trails designated for Bikes/Hikers only
Use your best judgement. Trails and situations are flexible and you're the boss :)
You are NOT responsible for medical advice or administration of horse or rider.
